We are a group of women who enjoy the sport of mountain biking in the upper midwest. Our goal is to encourage more women to share our sport. Some of us are racers, some of us just ride for fun and many of us are beginners just learning the sport. If you’ve ever thought about going on a group ride but decided not to because you “don’t want to hold everyone up”, we want you to ride with us! If you’ve ever thrown up your hands and thought “I’ll never figure out how to shift”, we can help you learn. On the other hand, if you’re looking for women who train and ride just as hard as you, they’re here too. Some of our members are top 5 elite racers. In other words, WORS women has something for everyone.
WORS Women will support our members by offering a variety of activities. Our goals for our first year include:
Group rides with several pace groups to allow beginners, experts and everyone in between a fun experience
Skills clinics at WORS races for female riders who currently race or those racing the first-timers race. The clinics will include a pre-ride of the race course and some basic bike maintenance tips.
An interactive forum where members can post information in a variety of topic areas
A childcare co-op run by members at WORS events to allow those women with children to race
Social events during some WORS weekends for members to get to know each other
Training tools and advice to help members reach their personal goals
Mentoring WORS Juniors of both genders in partnership with men who race WORS.
The next year will take us on a great ride, and we hope to see you out there with us.
