The GoPro WORS Women Cam has arrived!

TeamWORS and WORS Women have teamed up with the camera makers at GoPro to provide two rider cams for the ‘09 WORS Season. The cameras arrived this week! On Wednesday afternoon, I took one to Blue Mounds to test it.

I’ve ridden at Blue Mounds twice before, so I’m hardly an expert on these trails. I love them! Rocky and technical, even advanced riders find a challenge here. It’s dial into the zone or die, and I am always excited by the challenge of just getting around at Blue Mounds. If you ride here, make sure to pump up your tires and get ready to have a great time.

More about the cameras:
Once the technical details are worked out, we’ll formally introduce the GoPro Cams program at WORS.org and solicit requests for riders. If I can iron out all the tech and logistical details, I’d ideally like a different rider in each race (Cats 3 - 1) to wear the camera at WORS races.

One camera is the GoPro WORS Cam, the other is the GoPro WORS Women Cam - so as long as we have riders, we’ll always have footage from the ladies races. We’ll post the videos at the TeamWORS Vimeo account. They’ll always be edited down, and the purpose of the videos will be to highlight the courses and racing conditions. It’s never going to be a crash-fest and, I promise, the editor will be kind.  If you wear the camera and would like a copy of your complete video, just provide me with a disc and I’ll happily burn you a copy.

So - ladies - who wants to play with the camera? I’ll be giving the WORS Women Cam it’s first race day trial run at Wausau. Come by and take a look! After that, I’m going to want volunteers to wear the camera at races. Email me at worswomen at gmail dot com if you are interested. (Don has even mentioned the idea of offering a call-up to the wearer of the camera. Maybe?) I hope we’ll have a lot of interest. To get us started, I’ll offer to reserve the race of your choosing to the next lady, citizen, sport or elite, to post her ‘09 WORS race report (Iola or Crystal Lake) here at WORS Women.

Cheers!
